Cebu with Kids and for Students: Family-Friendly Tours and Educational Trips

By KR Travel and Tours · Cebu tour operator since 2004 · Updated October 9, 2026 · 3 min read

Cebu is one of the easiest Philippine destinations with children: short transfers, calm sea around Mactan, and plenty to learn. We have guided families and school groups since 2004. Here is what works best.

Best activities with kids

Calm-water island hopping

Nalusuan has a protected swimming area and a pool where children can see turtles and fish before snorkeling in 2 metres of water. Caohagan's white sand has shallow water on two sides.

Water sports at Mactan

Banana boat rides are a favourite with older children; parasailing gives a bird's-eye view of the coast. Life vests are always worn; ask us about minimum ages for your group.

History they can touch

A city tour turns history lessons into real places: Magellan's Cross (1521), the Basilica of the Santo Niño, Fort San Pedro and Lapu-Lapu's shrine in Mactan.

Nature in Bohol

The tarsier (one of the world's smallest primates), the Chocolate Hills and a river cruise with lunch: a long day, best for children aged about 7 and up.

Student and school trips

For schools, universities and youth groups we run ready-made educational packages with accommodation, full-board meals, a licensed guide, transport and learning-focused visits:

Programmes can include heritage sites, a local school or community visit, marine conservation at a sanctuary, and Bohol's wildlife. Teachers receive a day-by-day plan in advance. Ask us for a group quote.

Safety tips for families and groups

  • Use a rash guard and hat; the tropical sun is strong even on cloudy days.
  • Life vests on every boat and in the water for non-swimmers.
  • Drink plenty of water and plan a rest after lunch.
  • Avoid two very early mornings in a row with small children (Oslob starts at 4–5 AM).
  • Bring motion sickness tablets for boat days and the Bohol ferry.

A sample 4-day family plan

  1. Day 1: arrival, pool time, short Cebu & Mactan city tour.
  2. Day 2: Mactan island hopping (Nalusuan and Caohagan).
  3. Day 3: free morning, banana boat or parasailing in the afternoon.
  4. Day 4: Bohol day trip (for older kids) or a beach day, then fly home.

Our hotel packages include family rooms, transfers and child prices.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cebu good for families with young children?

Yes. Mactan has calm, shallow water, resorts with pools and short transfers. Choose island hopping with Nalusuan and Caohagan for the easiest day.

Can children swim with whale sharks in Oslob?

Children can watch from the boat. Snorkeling is possible for confident swimmers wearing a life vest; the very early start is the main challenge for young kids.

Do you organise school and university trips in Cebu?

Yes. We offer student educational packages for Cebu, Cebu-Bohol and Cebu-Bohol-Cebu, with full-board meals, guides and transport.
