Relish the warmth, hospitality and history of Cebu with us. We promise you a memorable stay at Palm Grass, where functionality meets tradition, and the passion for historical preservation combines with the pragmatic approach of preserving Mother Earth.

Palm Grass Hotel – The hotel is named after a local weed and herbal plant, known as agusais or asahas, which grows on barren and unused lands. Just like the humble palm grass, resilient and persistently growing in abundance despite harsh conditions, we aim to become staunch advocates for the preservation of the Cebuano cultural heritage as well as promote eco-friendly practices at all times.

Cafe – Kapihan ni Lumaya
Kapihan ni Lumaya, located at the very heart of the hotel lobby, offers native Cebuano, Filipino, Asian and international cuisines that suit every guest’s palate. This serves as a statement of every culture mixed through history and travel.
Our combined café and restaurant will please you visually and gastronomically. You will surely love our version of distinctly Cebuano cuisine, with dishes and drinks named after Cebu native warriors. The café is named after Lumaya who, according to folklore, was the founder of the Rajahnate of Cebu.

Roof Deck Bar  – Hardin Dagami
Hardin Dagami offers a chill-out place for every guest who wants to unwind and see the city lights of the downtown area.  Situated at the rooftop of the hotel, it has a saltwater dipping pool and a wellness mini-gym. Here, you can listen to acoustic bands at night, and do your yoga pose in the morning.  Exciting native games would be made available upon request.

Situated in Cebu City, 500 m from Colon Street, Palm Grass Hotel offers elegant accommodation with free WiFi access in the public areas. It features an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant and free private parking on site.  Offering views of the city, air-conditioned rooms come with a wardrobe, minibar and a flat-screen TV with cable channels. The en suite bathroom includes shower facility and free toiletries.

Palm Grass Hotel has a 24-hour front desk, where staff can assist guests with luggage storage, car rental and tour arrangements. Daily housekeeping service is also provided.
Magellan’s Cross is 900 m from Palm Grass Hotel, while Fort San Pedro is 1.2 km away. Mactan Cebu International Airport is 9 km from the property.

April 3, 2017
119 years ago today, our brave Cebuano heroes, shouted in triumph, “Mabuhi ang Katipunan!”, “Mabuhi ang Pilipinas!” as they defeated Spanish guns with the lowly but powerful sundang kun pinuti.  After its soft opening early last year, what better date to grandly open this hotel, Palm Grass, Cebu’s only heritage hotel, than the anniversary of the triumphant commencement of the Cebu Revolution against Spain.  A project of the Guivelondo-Blanco family, PALM GRASS The Cebu Heritage Hotel is a tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of all our Cebuano ancestors who dared to dream, and dared to fight for a free Cebu and free Philippines.

Our mother, Caridad Tan-Guivelondo shares the surname of Don Isidro Guivelondo, a Spanish Mestizo lawyer, an ilustrado, who was one of the early conspirators of the Cebu Revolution against Spain. It was in Don Isidro’s house that a major Katipunan organization meeting was held to plan the Tres de Abril uprising.  Our father, Mamerto Arcilla Blanco also shared with us about the Blanco Katipuneros who escaped from the Guardia Civil through the esteros of Colon. More than 2,500 Cebuano Katipuneros fought in that Battle of Tres de Abril 119 years ago. Today, we honor them through this celebration, Engrandeng Pag-abri sa Palm Grass.

Palm Grass is more than a hotel. Named after a local weed which commonly grows in Cebu and which has witnessed history as it unfolded; now, Palm Grass as a hotel retells the story of the richness of Cebu culture and history. Palm Grass is more than a hotel. We want everyone who visit and stay at Palm Grass, to be inspired of how our heroes were able to renew Cebu society. Palm Grass also continues the legacy of Don Isidro Guivelondo, who hosted in his house a very big and significant meeting on April 2, 1898 which gathered Katipunan leaders from all over the Cebu province. Leon Kilat and other Katipuneros also rested, spent the night, and had breakfast at Don Isidro’s house! Indeed, hospitality and guest satisfaction at its finest!

Today, when you go inside Palm Grass, you are greeted by security guards dressed in the Katipunan uniform designed by Juan Luna; with the replica of the vistidora worn by Andres Bonifacio and Leon Kilat. You will read some 300 names of Cebu heroes on our walls. Our floors and suite rooms; and even our bestseller dishes and drinks are a tribute to our heroes.  We thank everyone who has contributed to our lofty vision of promoting Cebu heritage. We are most grateful to the local and foreign historians who tirelessly researched on Cebu’s brave past; our local artists, architects, engineers, suppliers, construction workers, employees, descendants of Cebu Katipuneros, and everyone who shared their time, talent, and sweat.

Top 10 Travel Tips:

1. Pack light = Packing light means more freedom and you can move easily and quickly when you travel.
2. Do not CHECK-IN any luggage if possible = After the transition from covid, everybody wants to travel. If you are lucky, you can stand by at the baggage claim crossing your fingers hoping that it did not travel to the wrong direction. If you are not, you will end up writing your ghost story when to meet your luggage again.
3. Carry a small backpack or suitcase = Check the airline handcary size requirements and reconfirm the carry on weight. Be sure to get the name of the person that reconfirms for your hand carry so you will have the name to spell out when somebody at the check-in counter will insist to check-in your luggage. Trust me, with my experience this summer, some groups went back home without meeting their checked-in luggage.
5. Take only what you need = This says it all 🙂
6. Copies of your passport and important documents = Always email them to yourself for back
up purposes, you never know when you need it. You can always go to your email to get it.
7. Electronics, Medications and other super important stuff = Always have them in Your Carry- On suitcase/backpack. Like I said, you do not want to end up writing your ghost story when to meet your checked-in luggage.
8. Notify your bank/credit card company about your travel plans = Banks usually will put a hold on your card while you are overseas.
9. Book your flights early = The earlier you book, the cheaper deal you get.
10. Travel Aid Kit = It would be wise to bring first aid kit, it maybe not for you at least you can save a soul instantly 🙂
